About

A short, honest selection beats an endless list that says nothing

The AI tools market has become impossible to read. Every new technological leap sparks the same wave: a rush of new players launching within weeks, dozens of tools that all start to look alike, and no one to say which ones are actually worth your time. You end up spending more time sorting through options than getting things done.

Yassine Bouajani
Founder of AI Shortlist

My name is Yassine Bouajani. I've spent the past twenty years working on digital acquisition, web development and digital governance, across France and Morocco. I started using the OpenAI API back in 2022, before large language models went mainstream, and I've been integrating generative AI into real business workflows ever since: automation, agents, and AI risk governance for companies.

This isn't a recent discovery or a passing trend for me. It's a tool I use daily, with a clear sense of what it does well and where it falls short. AI Shortlist came out of that experience: I was looking for a directory that got straight to the point, couldn't find one, so I'm building it.

The method

How tools are selected

Every tool listed here, whether a free app or a full AI SaaS product, is chosen for one simple reason: it has real value for a concrete use case, not just because it's generating buzz. Selection is based on the tool's positioning, what it actually offers, and the feedback available, including reviews left by users of this site.

Nothing gets added just because a vendor asked for it.

The list evolves over time: it's refined by community feedback, and tools that stop keeping up gradually drop off.

The audience

Who it's for

AI Shortlist is for anyone with a real task to get done using AI: content creators, developers, freelancers, small business owners, students and researchers. The goal isn't to impress with the number of tools listed, but to help you find the right one faster.
